Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first musical experience. She performed on the trumpet. Jazz, classical and hip-hop studies began when she was a teenager. While in college, she concentrated on her studies. She took up a degree in women's studies and journalism. For a brief period during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until after she finished her studies. The song My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity via the Internet in 2012. It was eventually included on the album debut Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also included other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC BitcheUSD. The last track was linked directly to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide, which was published in 2015. A musician and author was in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on an actor for a third venture. She's appeared in movies including Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. The actress made headlines in the year 2018, with several movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
